Guests at Ballynoe House need not worry about “staying at home”. After all, it is a holiday for parents too and sometimes it is just good to relax and not go anywhere, except perhaps to take a short walk to the local beach.

Ballynoe House has 2 acres of grounds available to guests which provides a variety of opportunities for kids of all ages to do their own thing, from sitting under a tree, exploring the woods, or kicking a ball about on the play area in the Upper Meadow. There are plenty of areas where a family can also have a traditional picnic.

The Natural Choice

The natural world has prominence at Ballynoe House. There are opportunities for young lepidopterists to document the many butterfly species that inhabit the various habitats around the property.

For those more interested in flora than fauna, there are more than 50 varieties of wildflowers sown in the wildflower meadow, depending on the time of year. Perfect for young botanists.

The Woodland Trail provides an opportunity to document how many leaves or tree species there are, and for the younger ones finding those well-hidden fairy doors. No-one quite knows how many fairy doors there are and many visits down the trail will be required to find them all (possibly).

How about a holiday souvenir with a difference? Ballynoe House has several wildlife cameras that can be set up around the property. There is a lot of wildlife that might otherwise not be seen. Both still photography and video is possible, day & night. Budding young David Attenborough’s staying at Ballynoe House may be interested in helping to set up the cameras as well as having a brief starring role. We’ll email you the results.
