An All-Day Symposium Discussing How DNA Supports Family History Research

Ballynoe House is delighted to announce the West Cork DNA & Family History Symposium 2020 being organised in conjunction with the Clonakilty Chamber of Commerce. The all-day event will be held at Fernhill House Hotel, Clonakilty, on 8th June 2020.

While discussions will mainly have a West Cork focus, there are many general topics in common to all types of family history research, especially as more people are testing DNA for ethnicity & fun and may be interested in taking their DNA results into the realms of genetic genealogy to expand their family tree. The use of DNA for genealogical purposes is often misunderstood.

West Cork is a relatively remote part of Ireland, even in modern times, and families have a deep genetic heritage. It can be an expensive exercise in terms of travel and accommodation to attend similar conferences in Dublin and elsewhere, so the idea is to hold an event much closer to home with as much relevant local content as possible.

Attendance will be limited so early booking is necessary. Follow on Facebook for updates regarding the speaker list and final programme which will be announced in early Spring 2020. We look forward to seeing you there.
